Beijing - December 26, 2005. China plans to produce 1 billion doses of a new bird flu vaccine for animals that is designed to make an effort to inoculate the country's billions of farm birds faster and cheaper, state media reported Monday.

The vaccine can be injected, given as nasal spray or as eye drops, or put into water supplies, and immunizes birds against bird flu and Newcastle disease, the China Daily newspaper reported.
